We're looking for someone with strong foundational knowledge in IT covering topics such as networking, operating systems, Linux (including the command line), Windows administration and some basic programming knowledge. You'll have the ability to explain these topics to a non-technical audience to build up their skills and eventually put them on the pathway to becoming cyber security practitioners.
You will need to be comfortable writing training material and designing interesting educational hands-on labs for students at a variety of skill levels. You'll be responsible for communicating with both security professionals and copywriters. You will need to have an eye on all the existing content with a view to constantly keeping it up to date as well as adding new content.
You won't need any existing cyber security skills, but you will be given the opportunity to take highly regarded SANS training and certifications in cyber security as part of your work. The role is perfect for someone who wants to break into cyber security from a related IT field.
Our ideal candidate:
Our team combines a team of passionate and talented designers, developers and security researchers. Together we design and build the industry leading cyber security education product, CyberStart, used by over 200k students across the UK and US. The product, built mainly for young adults, is an engaging cyber security game where students take on the role of an agent in the cyber protection agency and get to hack, forensicate and code break their way through levels filled with a rich narrative, immersive design and realistic security labs.
We have a split remote/office-based workforce. This position has the option of being remote or located at our office in Ascott-under-Wychwood, which has hosted some fab team building and social events. As soon as it is feasible for us to do so, due to COVID restrictions, we will reinstate these events. At previous team meetings we have escaped from zombies, swung through trees and constructed our own gingerbread empires!
This role is a temporary position, with the potential to develop into a permanent position.
Although previous experience in cyber security is not required, you must be willing to learn and develop your expertise. You will have the opportunity to take formal SANS qualifications in the cyber security field.
