DevOps Team Lead

Helical Levity is led by world renowned cyber security expert James Lyne and combines a team of passionate and talented designers, developers and security researchers. Together we design and build industry leading tools that, amongst other things, help to identify and develop new cyber security talent.

We are looking for the right person to lead our Development Operations team. The DevOps department are charged with the task of implementing state of the art CI/CD pipelining done in the right way with security at the heart. We are a business that produces several streams of output many of which require facilitation by the DevOps department. DevOps is responsible for availability, automation, performance, efficiency, scaling, monitoring and emergency response. You will use your deep understanding of platforms, architecture, people, systems, and processes to both establish and continuously improve performance, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Much of the team work remotely but we do have an office in Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire. There is the option to work in either environment but we do tend to meet up in Stow or London to catch up on projects on a fairly regular basis, so being within a sensible travel distance of either would be useful.

Roles and responsibilities would include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining/improving/replacing existing solutions
  • Architecting new solutions and processes that can accelerate our development efforts
  • Designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, including automation solutions
  • Liasing with application development teams to devise processes for the above
  • Evaluating costs
  • Planning and Prioritising
  • Liasing with other business units to serve any pipelining needs they may have
  • Maintaining NOC On-Call
  • Increasing deployment rate and decreasing deployment time
  • Maintaining 5 9's availability for several applications that are part of a platform or standalone
  • Effectively managing a team

Level and salary:

We're open to applicants that have previously been a team lead, been a senior DevOps engineer, or, a senior developer with proven experience of operations.

  • Maintained and been responsible for production infrastructure
  • Worked alongside other teams that act as your customer
  • Worked alongside a development department
  • Worked directly administering servers/OSs/Cloud services
  • Working knowledge of Linux and cloud infrastructure
  • Ideally built infrastructure from paper through to production
  • Ideally experience of NOC
  • Delivered solutions that achieve 5 9's availability
  • Managed a team of engineers
  • AWS/Docker/Vagrant/Jenkins/Cloudformation
  • Salary is in line with industry standard but dependent on experience
